Head Above Water

Millions of women in the US work full-time yet remain financially insecure, earning too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to be stable. Known as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), they live without a safety net. Working for Women struggled to communicate the challenges facing ALICE women and to motivate donors to invest in the program. Through Head Above Water, Working for Women brought visibility to the hidden struggles of ALICE women. Inspired by real women’s stories, the animated short follows one working mother’s fight to stay afloat until support helped her break the cycle. Head Above Water gave Working for Women a more powerful way to engage corporate donors, opening the door to new workforce training partnerships.
